Gugulethu Sophie Mbatha - also popularly known as Gugu - is a British stage actress and film actor. Gugu gained notoriety after starring in the BBC's 'Doctor Who,' a British science-fiction television show. Gugu had a massive success in this series, playing Tish Jones. Tish is the sister of Martha Jones. Gugu's audiences loved her bright enthusiasm. There was no way going back to her wonderful performance career! The mother of Handler worked as a housekeeper and her father was employed as a used-car dealer. Her mother, born in Germany and an immigrant to the United States since 1958, was born in Germany. After ten long years of fighting breast cancer, Handler died in 1989. Handler was raised in an Reform Judaism family. Her father was Jewish. Handler was raised in a safe neighborhood and enjoyed a pleasant childhood. Her move from the city of her birth to Los Angeles when she was aged 19 in order to pursue a career in acting. Handler started acting for income. Handler began performing stand-up as a full-time comedian when she was 21. Handler had realized that she is gifted at storytelling. Handler started her career by becoming a member of the only female Oxygen team, and was a part of a television show called Girls Behaving BADLY. The series was famous for its secret camera and humorous jokes. This reality TV show ran from 2002-2005. The handler started appearing on other shows including Weekends at D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler was a part of The Tonight Show for a time as a reporter. Handler had her biggest break in 2006, as she was named host on E! It was titled The Chelsea Handler Show. The show ran for a total of two seasons. Handler appeared on The Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour in the United States the year after. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend and HBO have shown Handler's stand-up shows.
